I believe it's hard to tell what is "good" and what is "evil" in this world. Even the most innocent things can become evil and vice versa in less than a minute. Humans live constantly with an internal battle of choosing what they think is right and wrong. I believe that's the true Good VS Evil battle we have all the time.
I drew this thinking how both ideas can blend together creating a contrast, a tension, and yet be part of the same being. Here, the angel, which is usually considered something good, is being consumed by "evilness". I tried to make him/her look confused, as if he is struggling between letting the darkness get him or not.
The idea came with the WACOM "Bring your vision to life" contest, so I'm submitting it to the contest. I would really love to win the first prize, but there are so many good works submitted that deserve the first place so much... I have really low hope of winning something. But I really liked working on this illustration, so I do not regret it.
Note (May 12th 2009): I would like to express that I do not have the intention to go over any religious or theorical discussion, and that this pic is merely a way of expressing my point of view on this issue. I respect anyone who doesn't agree with me, but I do not intend to start any moral discussion here, and so I would appreciate if comments were restricted only to the illustration, not to my points of view.
I would also like to point out that I do recognize that if we didn't have good and bad things our world would be chaos, I do not deny the existence of good things, but I don't think we can tag things as good and evil so easily. It's like denying the complexity and the beauty of our world. But that's just my opinion, you really don't have to agree.
Edit (May 29th): Thank you for all the support in the contest. I didn't get into the semi-finalist list (obviously), and I don't think I'll get enough favs to win any prize, but I still thank everyone who favorited it. Thank you very much!

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
